it sucks but i'm the type to need verbally violent motivation

I have a bunch of goals this summer, and if they don’t happen IMMA KEEL SOME…nothing. because i’m too passive. :I

Right now, hahahi.tumblr (that’s right, SHE DUN GOT A NAME, HAR HAR) are planning to use all our money evar (we are poor students, not some trust fund hipsters unfortunately) to go to ONE place for about a week or two.

I have no idea. At first, y’all know I said “MEXICO CITAAAAY” but then after the talks about traveller’s diarhea andddd h1n1 annnnd racial prejudice aaaand pollution, that’s become a little iffy.

We’re not really the clubbing type. In fact, really NOT. Unless its to chill out. But none of that ass-shaking stuff because I lack one and also can be called old-school as I save the sexyness for sex. Duh. We are also not the types to have enough money to say something like PARTAY IN MIAMI and we never have gotten along with the in-crowd. ;_;

we do like places that you can see sights, see different kinds of people, eat tasty food, sit on grassy areas, annnd chill out. We’re lazy people.

KNOWING ALL THIS, there are 77 of you……..ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Trans*Racism, Queer Racism

genderqueer:

fireeyedboi:kitchenmagician:browntrannylaments:enumerate:teapower:

I would like to call out my fellow white trans* and genderqueer folks on some serious racism and cultural appropriation I see within the trans*/GQ spaces we dominate. This racism carries extra weight when we are educating cis folks on what language to use when referring to trans* people(s).

First: the term “Two Spirit” belongs to First Nation/Native American/indigenous people. Period. White trans* folks should not use it for ourselves nor should we be telling white cis people what it means without explaining who can (and can’t) use it. (Note: Saying “I’m kind of like a Two Spirit person” or “I would like to use that term for myself since I think it’s really beautiful, oh but I won’t” still counts as appropriating that term.)

Second: your birth/government name is not the same thing as a slave name. I was recently in a closed, mostly white trans space when someone made this comparison. Specifically he was suggesting it as a great, snarky come-back for anyone to use when cis people ask “So what’s your ‘real’ name?” General rule: if you want to talk about an overlap between your oppression and someone else’s whose oppression you don’t share, you should speak from your personal experience of privilege, not your assumptions about their experience of that oppression.

Lastly, and these ones apply to all white queers:

1. Don’t write-off the term “men who have sex with men” as being the same thing as gay men. Gay was named for/by white men and lots of MSM of color don’t use that term for themselves, for various and diverse reasons.

2. No, your experience of being in the closet in white middle-class America is not the same thing as the experience of being DL in a community of color — and no, that’s not because “people of color are more homophobic than white people.” Again: speak from and about your privilege, not for and about someone else’s oppression.

Quoted from here (and whoa, for once, I actually recommend reading the comments).

I had a dream and imma tell yall about it

I had a dream that I up and left this boring part of the GTA and went to mexico city.

I didn’t tell anyone where I was going or anything, I just left. I told my sister I was fine once I got there, via facebook. And I continued telling her just that; “I’m fine :) ” every 6 or 7 hours a day on facebook. Other than that, there was no communication between me and anyone i’d known.

I stayed in a bluish-green hostel for a week, when I kept seeing the same girl around the marketplace.

She asked me to stay with her and said her name was Tambien.

There was the same bluish-green couch in her house, and her fridge was also that color.

I lastly updated facebook saying “I’m happy.” and then I woke up. I don’t think I left that place, but it was the first time in a long time i’d dreamed something other than a nightmare. It was nice! And because i’m probably a little naive and insane, i’m going to look up mexico city and flights to it. I have 4 months to kill, am forcefully unemployed (and don’t see that changing, recession…) and don’t have school till september. So why not? It will be all the money I have, all of the hard earned money I have, but it will be worth it, right? Am I insane?
